...with Evgen Čopi Gorišek
In this episode of WAS MIT KUNST, Johann König talks to Slovenian-born, Berlin-based artist Evgen Čopi Gorišek. They talk about his background, his childhood dream of becoming an athlete, his path as an artist and his first solo show at König Galerie.
Gorišek is known for his large-scale paintings, which use a mixture of traditional techniques and spray-painted colors to depict figures from popular images. Characteristic of Gorišek is the depiction of his figures' faces, all of which have a flattened, stylized smiley face in place of their facial expressions. In addition, his portrayal of the athletic body’s beauty is heightened by the softness of his medium, the spray gun.
